11714, Do you ever just sit there

Staring out the window, thinking about that feeling when you pull up to the launch ramp on a cold windy day with clouds racing overhead, and there's no trailers in the lot. It's quiet and it's just you and an old parking lot. And you look out and the sky is crystal clear. The mountains are clear and everything in between. You open the door to the truck and the cold air smacks the inside of your sinuses. As you rig the boat you can't focus on rigging the boat because you're looking out at the lake.

There's no more traffic. No more red lights. No more annoying commercials on the radio. Just the crunch of gravel under your feet. Someone drives by and you glance, and a trout fisherman 300 yards off makes a cast and you see the splash, and everything in the world is on autopilot. There's no thought process. Unstrap the boat, trim the motor, toss your jacket in the boat, click click click. Take a deep breath and watch the trees pushed over by the wind. Watch the petals like snow across the lake. Push the boat off the dock and wait for the adventure to begin.

Sounds like you need to get out and fish. I am home today day dreaming about an imaginary 15 lb bed fish that I will be gone by the time I get there on friday

What you describe is one of the best parts about fishing by yourself. Don't get me wrong, I love to fish with friends, but there is something special about the peacefulness of being alone with just the lake and your thoughts. I am glad my boat will be getting fixed this week so I can enjoy a morning like you just described very soon.

I can relate to all of it, except for the boat and truck part...:( unless I'm with my friend and his boat... But when I'm fishing solo, either from shore or float tube, it's so nice, and generally peaceful... That is, until school is out, and the recreational boats and Jet Skis come out...x(

But, lately, I've been going to ESPN's LunkerCam site (http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/fishingtips/news/story?page=LunkerCam) and drooling over those 3 big bass swimming around... I'M ADDICTED!!!... I keep that window open, on one of my monitors, ALL DAY!... I actually got to see them being fed, large live minnows, this morning (around 10:00 AM PST)!...:7

Unfortunately, since it's live, the fun ends at around 5:30 PM or so, as the tank/pool is in Florida, and they're 3 hours ahead...;(

At the end of the day, I'm an adventure junkie. Fishing fulfills that. In fishing you can go to the same place 100 times and on the 100th time you can have an amazing adventure. I think that's what it's all about.
