Just watched the Clear Lake Elite Series episode on Bass Insider. The best part of the show was Byron showing his "butter and toast" method for putting scent on swimbaits. Guy busts out a paper plate to keep the scent off his boat carpet. Classic :) Loved every second. Really enjoyed watching Byron doing his thing. The paper plate was all time.

I agree the music that was playing in the background when he was on camera was classic too. I really enjoyed watching Byron on camera, great guy

Well since were on the subject, how do you put your scent on? I usualy dip my frst finger in and rub it on with that finger while I hold the bait with my left hand. I keep a rag to wipe my stinky finger off. If any of you guys have a better method then share it. I dont like getting that stuff on my boat either and I would rather not use my finger. I am not sold on the paper plate idea though :P

The only scent that I use is Hot Sauce, so I don't know if this will work for the scent that you use Matt... I put about a 1/4 of a bottle in the bottom of a 1 Gallon Ziploc. With your fingertips you can work just a small amount towards the opening of the bag. You can just open the bag, drop your bait partly in, and massage a perfect slime coat on the bait. The scent never touches your hands. The key is to bring just enough scent from the bottom of the bag to the center of the bag, where your bait goes. I don't like the way Hot Sauce looks on a bait if there is too much of it. Also you can add different colors of glitter to the scent if you want. Scenting a bait with this method gives me a lot of confidence, I don't know if it makes me actually catch more fish though.
