Just passing on some info on a new color offered by Castaic Soft Bait Co. In their 8 and 10 inch swimbait they have created a new trout color that should be killer. It's called Ghost Rainbow and is transparent with the typical green/pink trout outline printed on it. It should be a great color for clear water, bass will see more of an outline than the actual full body of the bait. They debuted this color about 2 months ago, but now it's available everywhere. I haven't thrown their 10 inch swimbait much, very heavy, but I'll definetly give this color a try.

You can see the difference between the opaque Rainbow color(top) and the new transparent Ghost color.

what is the hook up ratio on those things? it seems like it would be hard to get a fish with the hook right there....im not much of a swimbait guy but i always see those and wonder what is better, a treble at the bottom or that. thanks

You can see in the picture that they include an eyelet in the belly to tie off a stinger hook. I don't like running a belly stinger on this style of swimbait because a lot of time you'll get bit while running the bait into points and bouncing it off structure. That treble will get you snagged up continuosly. I used to insert a copper dowel into these kind of baits and run line through it to tie a large, round worm hook as a trailer on the top of the bait near the tail. Basstrix 10" swimbait has a similar double hook set up. When I get a chance I'll post a picture of how you can do this, but I'd definetly shy away from adding a stinger to the bottom of the bait. Most fish inhale these baits head first, so the position of this hook on the top of the head is the best set-up.

Only $12 (or was it $12.99?) for the 'big 10-inch' -- not a bad deal! Hope it holds up for a few toads!

'Preciate the heads up on the stinger rigging. I was definitely considering just adding a big treble down there. Might hold off, til I *miss* a few, at least!

Have you tried a weedless treble as a trailer?
