I'm curious if any of you here have ever tried or had success with duck/bird imitating lures. I know most of you are probably more inclined to throw the trouts for big bass, but i personally have seen on more than one occasion a big postspawn bass explode on a duckling. I'd just like to know if anyone here has had luck with any of the bird lures out there.
Thanx,
Corey Anderson

shoots, I don't have any duck lures but I have whacked them on the live ones, just rubberband a 5\0 gammie to one of their legs and don't listen to their cute little quacks- ;-)

I have seen a bass eat a baby duck before. It was awesome. There were like 9 or 10 baby ducks all in a line behind the mom, all of a sudden there is a huge splash and the momma duck is going crazy. There were feathers on the water and everything.

I have also had a 7 lber cough up some big feathers in my livewell one time. Couldnt tell what it was though.

I know Richard Watson (the guy who makes the Watson rat) also has a baby duck he used to tie. He would fish it at Havasu in the backwaters and slay them on it.

only problem with the live ducklings is sometimes they poop in the livewell and kill the trout!!! ;)

I am kidding, obviously-

i will never forget the time when me and Brian and Brian#2 were at cachuma and Brian decided to put on this ugly bird crankbait thing and first cast got a decient fish. when me and brian heard "fish on" we thought it was a joke, joke was on us though :)

Dude, the yo-zuri bird lure will always come through. The key is to fish it as a crankbait for half the retrieve and then fish it as a ripbait for the second half. LMAO

I was at Clear Lake a couple years back and witnessed a BIG BASS come up and grab a fully grown Mallard. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was 15 feet or so off a floating dock and this duck is just kicking away as we pass each other. Then this fish comes up and KERSPLASH!!! SQUAK! QUACK! SQUAK! QUACK! and this duck is flapping it's wings as hard as it can. The fish aparently on had a grip on it's tail and maybe legs. It eventually let go and the bird took off.
I had the shakes for a week! I want some of those baby duck lures for this spring's tourneys at Clear.
