4287, Big worms? Posted by jasonR, Tue Mar-09-04 02:43 PM
All this talk about swimbaits...nice, BUT what about big worms? Anyone fish them anymore? I have been, out here in Az, and havent quite mastered them yet. Ive caught a few 2 lb fish on the 10" worms, but have been playing with a 14-15 inch bait a guy here makes locally. Anyone have any big worm tips? Thanks, jason

I recently bought some of http://naturalmotionlures.com/ these but there has been no topwater bite here in the cold. I know they're not "worms" but I thought you might find them interesting.

I have caught fish on some 18 inch worms that I poured, but it took awhile caue every time I would swing I would get half a worm. I have done best using 10 in and 12 in. , but I havent noticed any larger fish on average. I use them at night to make more vibration. In the daytime I get bit more and by the same sized fish with a 7 in, The one exeception is senko's I get better fish on the larger sizes. I even made a 12 version and did pretty good with it. Matt

As per their website:
"This weekend, an 8 pound bass was caught on the Red Viper Fishing Snakeā¢ by Tim Fey of Dr.Phillips, FL who later discovered the fish had swallowed a real snake before being hooked. That's one snake-loving fish. Unfortunately, she was stressed and bleeding heavily, therefore ended up going home. We strongly believe in CPR and release 99% of all our fish."
Call me crazy, but if you open up a fish to see what they ate, I couldn't possibly expect anything but for the poor fish to be "stressed and bleeding."
