Hey Rob, first of all, just wanted to let you know, I think your big fish board is a great idea ! I will try to get on it and share info whenever I get a chance........but I have to tell you, my fishing addiction is a serious one, and I am lucky to get 6 hrs of sleep a night as it is ! LOL
But about fluorocarbon leaders.......I started using them 1 year ago for all of my live bait fishing. Main reason being, all I use is braided line which is very visable under the water. I used to camoflage it with indelible magic markers of brown and green, but it still was not anywhere near as invisable as fluorocarbon. I have had very good success since I started using this technique.
Then, a little while back, I was reading something by Mike Folkestad in which he stated, if a big trout-eating bass sees a leader attached to it's trout dinner, you may as well forget about catching her. Geez ! That's a pretty strong statement ! But coming from a guy who catches as many huge fish as he has, I decided that I needed to try it ! I still have not got around to buying some 30 lb fluorocarbon(maybe 40 lb ? remember I use a 50 lb braided main line).
Hey Rob, where can I buy a spool of 30 lb Sugoi ? And, what is the cost ? I have been using 20 lb Seaguar (Cabelas label)for my live bait fishing, and it's awsome ! Berkeley Vanish may as well vanish ! Oops, I hope you don't have any sponsors at Berkeley Rob ! chuckles.....
Ok, Berkeley makes an awsome digital scale ! And some powerful worms ! Now I'm getting silly......I told you I don't get enough sleep !
Catch and Release a Trophy Bass !
