4456, Need Help finding 2-piece S/B Rod
Posted by Lightninrod, Tue Apr-13-04 09:53 AM
The longest rod I can fit inside my F150 cab is 7'. I've been throwing some swimbaits with a 2-piece, 7.5' pitching rod. I just finished rereading Rob's info on Trophy Bass fishing in which he stressed the need for proper tackle. That includes special rods for the heavy s/b's. My question; do any of you have info/link on a 2-piece, 8'(or 7.5') swimbait rod without me going the custom rod way?

I've looked at Phenix, Castaways,, Rogue, and Fenwick sites without finding that rod. The only site that has one that fit's my description is http://www.fishingworld.com/KistlerRods/Category.tmpl?Cart=10818756361418935&Lvl1Cat=Helium%20LTA&Lvl2Cat=Bait%20Casting%20Rods that one(He 76TXH model). Since it wasn't mentioned in Rob's info and it is rather expensive, I wanted to run this by you guys before I order the Kistler. Btw, I have 3 Helium 7' MC rods(and absolutely 'love' them) now but I assumed they were for 'normal' Bass fishing as they are so light(4 ounces) in weight but now they are offering a swimbait rod.........???

EDIT: I just got off the phone from Kistler and asked how such a light-weight rod(the ones I have) could be used for s/b's. A tech then told me that have a new model(not on the site yet but for sale now) is available that is 7', 11" and telescopes and that he has thrown a 3 ounce bait with no problems. It and the one I referred to above are designed with s/b's in mind. The 7,11 rod weigh's only 5.6 ounces! Told him I had to think about it as the 7,11 cost's even more than the 7,6 and I want to see what you guys think.
