500, My osprey re rigging theory...... Posted by , Sun Jan-20-02 06:28 PM
heres what i may do to prevent pulling the guts out:
1-replace the treble with a gamakatsu im thinkin 2/0.
2-get some 40 lb flourocarbon and tie a polamar knot to the barrel swivel thing thats above the hook.
3-tie the other end 2-3"es back onto a split ring with the same hook, same knot.
4-get a wire of some kind, a light paperclip perhaps.
5-thread the wire, in this case straightened paperclip, thru the split ring.
6-wrap wire around split ring once.
7-cut paperclip 1-2"es long.
8-insert paperclip ends into osprey on oppisite sides of splitring.
this will happen if a fish catches the back treble: the wire will come un-inserted from the rubber, and wont rip, and if it does, it will be very little.
what are your thoughts on this?? patrick

501, oh and....... Posted by , Sun Jan-20-02 06:36 PM
when you get the lure back, the wire should still be intact, and all you have to do is put it back in the lure patrick

Unless you remove the original harness that's in the bait, it's still going to rip through the bait. And, from what I understand, you're still trying to use the breakaway technique so that the harness rips out of the bait, and you catch the fish, but your bait is gone. I think you need to catch a few fish on the Osprey to understand what I'm talking about. -Brian
