Wow after reading Troy Folksteads article I'm suprised he wasn't charged with Pleasurism. All he did was take the information from Bill Murphy's book and change the wording a little bit. No doubt it was straight out of Bill Murphy's book In Pursuit of Giant Bass AKA THE BOOK. Actually Murphy's book is more well written IMO. I can't believe he even went as far as using the words"In Pursuit Of Giant Bass" a yet he did'nt even bother to give any credit to Murphy. I'm not trying to discredit Folkstead I have no doubt he's an excellent angler in his own right but I would have thought he could have come up his own article instead of stealing someone elses. Just my opinion. If you havn't read Murphy's book I would recommend it especially if you enjoyed the article. Once you've read it will become obvious that Folksteads article was a remake or should I say retake.

Back when I was pretty much a rookie bass fisherman, I met Troy at the Mini-Mart in Castaic. This was when he was getting his name in the paper all the time for larger bass--especially from the lower lake and Lake Mission Viejo or something. I went up to him said hello and asked him a question about pointers for the lower lake. So far, he's the rudest angler that I've ever met in my life. That article is pretty much exactly from Bill Murphy's book. I'm not a bit surprised that he's stealing someone else's tactics and passing them off as his own. He is not a nice person at all!

I second everything you say. I can't find anything nice to say about the guy either. My wife and I fished with him about 7 or 8 years ago and wouldn't recommend him.......BassMan

Just my two cents, I don't know Troy at all, but I have seen him often on LMV and he's always been pretty cool to me. I have a buddy that doesn't fish much and lived in one of the condos on the lake, he was fishing off the dock and started talking to Troy who was fishing nearby- he pulled up to the dock and gave my buddy some tips as well as a handfull of worms and hooks, pretty cool in my book. Everyone has their bad days, can't speak for the guy except for what I've seen.

The bottom line is that the information provided doesn't belong to Troy.He might have been able to pull it off if he had not chosen what is probably the most well known bass book ever written. If you want to thank someone for the good info then You should give credit where credit is due and thank the person who provided it, the late Bill Murphy. If you liked the article I recommend reading the book. IMO opinion it has a lot of good information and is well written.

Stiching is covered in detail but the it's one of many aspects covered in the spectrum of information that the author has provided. The book is titled "In pursuit Of Giant Bass" and focuses on fishing for big bass. It's got a lot of good info IMO. If you don't believe me then just ask Troy.

I don't know who copied who or what is going on here since I haven't read Bill Murphy's book very closely and I haven't read Troy Folkestad's article, but right or wrong the forum isn't for dragging people through the mud. The place to bring this up would be with whomever owns the rights to Bill Murphy's book. If we can give it a rest here I'd appreciate it. thanks guys
