hey

i havent used swimbaits that much....but i did catch me first swimbait fish the other day and a 3:16 bluegill.....and i hooked a really big fish on a matt lures bluegill...the big one always gets away doesnt it..lol...but anyway im looking for something that sinks and can be worked through structure without getting hung....the color i would like is black with red glitter....size:atleast 6-9in...possibly bigger but def not smaller...i plan on night fishing with it...so is there any swimbaits out there that fit this description?

thanx

The only sinking B/R swimbait I know is the optimum internal head so it may work for you it is not one of the best looking baits but catches fish.

I think Matts is more of a Waking bait it also has a hanging trebel mabey not good for fishing in wood.

Nope. Matt's swimbaits are not "waking" baits. They are molded around a lead-head of some type so they plummet downward in water. They only come with a dorsal fin, forward facing hook and without a belly hook.

There is a hook eye hanging from the bely where I attach a split ring and a Mustad Weedless Treble hook(W-3551) on my Matt-baits. I throw them in a very snag-infested swamp pond and still manage to fish them without too many hang-ups. I've only had to use my lure-retriever once for one of them.

you guys are both right. I used to make a waking bait that was black and red but I only sell the bluegill and soon the baby bass.

Dan I know your a big fan of Matts lures, I am too I am just not a fan of catching a few fish on one bait. I mostly use the storms which are great for the price they have a bluegill w/ is good for smaller fish in general and a shiner that I think is killer! My question is how many fish do most people get out of these baits before there totaled?

My friend had Matt's Bluegill and had been ragging on my storms all day eventhought I was catching and he was not. First fish a 2lber on his bluegill it was done! I can usally get 6-12 fish on the storms and there on .50-1.33ea I know Matt's is a superior bait and will proably get alot more quality fish but facts are facts I cant afford 20.00 for a bait that is gonna get torn apart. If I could afford it I would be buying a bunch of them....but I can't.

So how many fish on average does eveyone get on there matt lures gills and bass?

? for Matt have yu ever thought of using the 3x plastic on your baits? I am real unsure of what it would take to switch or if just painting them or pouring them aswell. I know the 3x plastic needs to be melted at a very high heat.

BTW Matt please dont think I am trying to put your baits down, I think there great! But from my stand point durablity is a factor when your catching 15-20 fish a day on swimbaits it is hard for me anyhow to spend so much money on baits.

3x plastic cant be painted. At least as far as I know there is no known paint. You also cant glue to it, so eyes would not stick. The glue might last for a day but then it falls off. You also cant color it with anything but powdered pigments. And it is a pain to work with. I have had some of my bluegill get torn up prety quick. The fastest was 4 fish. I have also had them last up to I think 21 fish with some minor repairs along the way. I have actualy noticed that the smaller fish do more damage because the bigger ones usualy have the whole bait in there mouth. For the most part I am hearing good reports as far as durability goes but there are always going to some that get hit just right (or wrong) and get torn. My bass is a little smaller so it should last, as long as the fish are comitted. If they are just tail biters than any soft plastic swimbaits can get wrecked quickly. I am also going to have the bass Priced less because it takes less time for me to make. My advise to make any soft swimbait last loger is to gear up and crank them in. If you fight them then they too much time to do damage. I have also had a Hudd come back tailess and I consider them a very durable bait. I was bummed but I know thats just how it goes sometimes.

Matt I had figured there was something wrong w/ the 3x plastic :( Anyhow I am usally fishing where there is alot of tail biters. When I am in big fish water I will throw your bait.
