I bought a 10" Slow Sinking Platinum on Friday and it's not running right. I was wondering how much weight I should start with to tune it? I'm thinking I'll use the Lunker City nail weights unless I get a better suggestion. If anyone has pixs of how they have successfully tuned theirs, I'd appreciate seeing them.

I've thrown a few and they all swam OK. I am not really sure what could be done to tune one. Perhaps adding a little weight around the hook shank or putting a mojo weight in the belly would help. If you have some small mojo weights or nail weights, you could try to insert them toward the side that is rolling up to help hold it down. If it's not working, you might consider returning it.

If you are using a trap hook... try adjusting the lengths (amount of slack) on the wire / braid. I had to dial one in for my father by changing the amount of slack in the wire.

I haven't trap rigged it yet, but I plan on it, so thanks for mthe heads up on that.

I usually use some small mojo weights or sections of pencil lead. Not sure how heavy, maybe 1/16 or 1/8oz? I mean dude, just sit on the shore and cast a few casts, then put some more weight and see what happens, and continue until it works. If it doesn't work and the bait just doesn't swim, then see about returning it.

I know I'm being anal about it. I just didn't want to punch to many wholes in the bait adding weight just to find out it's too much or too little. Not to mention the loose of precious fishing time now that I'm working and averaging less than 8 hours a week on the water.

If you give it a light snap or two of the rod it may help you get the bait started.
