Just watched it here on the east coast,good fish in tough conditions!Rob,you might want to upgrade those 2x's and you also need a bigger net!!!!Lol I glad you got some exposure there on the west coast,maybe it had something to do with a west angler winning the Classic?Here on the east we feel left out because there will be no Classic in the east unless they change their format no tournaments until the fall here.B.A.S.S. did say that they were thinking of maybe having a elite tournament on the west coast we will see. I would have liked to see how you put stinger hooks/rigs together and place them on the swimbaits,but i know they probably didn't give you alot of time to do that classroom on the water.Keep up the good work!:-)

That net in the video is Mark's and we debated about whether it was big enough before we started fishing. I like a bigger net but he's landed a lot of fish with it so it has some sentimental value I think. Either way it made for good tv :) I use a Promar grande halibut/salmon release net for my fishin.

As far as the hooks go, that was a surprise to me that that hook bent out. The hook was a 2/0 Gamakatsu Magic Eye treble which is a 2x strong hook.

I haven't used these hooks very much yet but was switching out a lot of my baits to them because they are not shiny black and they are 2x. Now I'm not so sure what to do about hooks.

I've seen so many hooks bend out on bass it's just getting frustrating because there's no really good hook out there. I feel like it's only a matter of time before I lose a really huge fish to a bent hook and I hate the inevitability of it.

Someone needs to make a hook that is 3x strong but the same thickness as a standard treble. Bronze colored like a gamakatsu round bend but as sharp as an owner stinger. That's the hook I want but it doesn't exist.

YEA ROB!! You spanked a couple for the camera and your calfishing.com tee was clearly visable, especially if you (me)were looking for it. GREAT JOB!! It was a good segment all told. Until someone sits down with Gamakatsu and /or Owner and designs a swimbait specific hook, I think we'll just have to do the best we can with whats out there. I do think that if the hook color is important enough to you, then it would be to your benefit and peace of mind ,to take the time to paint the hooks or POWDER COAT the hooks that you DO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN. Until then, I guess it's a balance between the 'hook color to strike ratio' and the 'strike to bent hook/dumped fish ratio'....... As for me, once they're on I want them to STAY on! If I never got the bite , oh well, but if I get the bite and lose the fish to rubba hooks, well then I deserve to feel like the guy that just kicked my dog also kicked me in the 'nads..... Just watched the show, looks like you put it on those guys pretty good Rob, and from the back of the boat. Maybe they will come back and have you guys do a show during the pre-spawn next year. Looks like i'm going to have to get myself a couple of Triple Trouts!
