Ok guys and gals, here's the deal - Its time for another giveaway, but this time we're going to do a little trivia :) I have here a brand new MS Slammer X-2 in the new dark rainbow pattern courtesy of Mike Shaw at MS Slammer. This is a bouyant, slow waking big fish calling bait that retails for $49.00. You can read about it in the review at this link:

http://www.calfishing.com/reviews/trout_plugs/ms_slammer_x-2/index.html

I've also gone ahead and put 2/0 Gammie magic eye trebles on it and a heavy duty Egg Snap from Japan. This bait is ready to rock!

This bait can be dangling from the end of your rod the next time you hit the water if you can answer this question:

Before getting into the fishing lure business, what sport was Mike Shaw involved in?

I will announce the winner in this thread
If you win, you must contact me using the contact form
I will ship the bait anywhere in the US to the winner (apologies to our international visitors)

Bigfish2 has the correct anwser - drag racing. Please send me a message via the contact form so I can get your prize on its way. Phishnuts, your guess was close but we wanted a specific answer :)

Mike Shaw and his dad Dean raced top alcohol funny cars in the 1980's. Mike got his NHRA license when he was 19 and traveled all over the western US racing in various leauges including the West Coast Funny Car Association. He got his start from his dad who ran top gas cars in the 70's. Mike ran two cars during his racing days, both of which were named Rampage. The first car in the early 80's had a Corvette body and the second car in the late 80's was a Dodge Daytona. Mike's best time in the 1/4 mile was 6.30 seconds with a top speed 220mph.

Hope ya'll enjoyed playing and thanks again to Mike & MS Slammer for the prize :)

Mike Shaw received his PHD from Columbia University and interned at Stanford where he eventual became a surgeon specializing in orthopedists. During a brilliant and successful career Mike took up fishing as a form of relaxation. While fishing at a local lake he saw a fellow angler catch a large bass on a wooden plug. This inspired Mike to take a different direction in his life. Mike gave up surgery, then purchased a lathe with the intention of building the best plugs in the world. Even though Mike is working more hours and making less money than his prior position he feels the work he is doing for the angling community is much more rewording.

I was going to guess a saltwater fishing guide. He recently visited Massachusetts and got out and did some striper fishing. I missed the chance to meet him while he was here.
