I thought I'd share some success I had with Mike Shaw's latest bait: the MS Snake.

I live in Atlanta, so I'm definitely doing some down South style bigbait fishing...so the Snake fits nicely into the mix of Southern bigbait fishing. I definitely think this bait will get fish all over the country.

The MS Snake is definitely something the fish haven't seen before. The swim on the bait is amazing. Very tight wiggle to the snake, and great lifelike action. The baby bass color I have is really a good snake color. Mike had added a new class of bigbaits with the MS Snake, and if I was you, I would look into this sooner than later, if you haven't already.

I had a fish follow it on the second cast...I was still tuning it a bit and just checking the action. Not too long later, I got a super skinny 6.6 pounder on it. The bait fishes well, runs straight, and swims great, gets bit, and hooks the fish.

Well, I'm in GA too but a little further South. I fish in swamp ponds where gators and snakes live too. I checked TW and USACPro but didn't see that MS bait. Where might I order one?

Dan: get you one of these things already. Those snakes are ideal for us Southern boys...the potential is endless...you don't need trout per se for the bigbait thing.

You can buy direct from Mike.

I would love to see tacklewarehouse.com get these baits and distribute these for all of our sakes.

Just got off the phone with Mrs. Shaw. Mike was in town. I ordered the Snake and found out it can be painted any of MS's standard colors. I asked for black with yellow stripes which I think will mimic a King snake in coloring and they are in the swamps/woods around here.

Yes, like many things it is on my list :) I need to add a new category for snakes and get the pictures up. I threw the bait around this weekend quite a bit. Didn't have any bites but it does fish well and I can see why there are some fish being caught on it. It's a BIG lure.

I just got one in baby bass. Mike and his wife are unbelievable with respect to professionalism and customer service in my experience with them so far. Any particular method you guys have been using in terms of working or fishing the bait? I'm going to try and chuck it somewhere tomorrow.

Well, I threw it today. Couldn't have been a worse day for topwater baits; bright sunshine, no clouds, light breeze, muddy water(clarity of a foot or less), and all of this following the first cold snap of the Fall season so the Bass were not cooperative in any way. I got one bite and one 8" Bass on a Swimming Senko in the shallows.

I'd reneame it by the way. Mine, in black with yellow stripes and its big 'head', looks very much like a baby alligator. It has a great wavy, wiggle movement; again like a small gator. I saw a real one about a foot long a month or two ago and though the coloring was different, the movement was very much like the bait's.

It casts fine and doesn't get tangled up in its hooks. I was throwing it on an Okuma rod, a Calcutta 300, and 25# test Maxima Ultragreen.

Thanks for the heads up Dan. I still haven't had a chance to throw it yet, but just looking at the way it was constructed I can tell that the tail action is going to be unreal. I will definitely report back with what I find and with some video. Thanks again Dan and Matt.
