Well, did y'all sign up? Anyone go as an observer? I'm in and ready to lose my $200 in style :) Hope to see a good nor-cal contingent there.

Well, Ron said there will be 7 Norcal guys in it so maybe, just maybe, one of us can put the fear in those Socal guys. (Rob, you're still a Norcal guy for this one, especially if you win. :D )

The seven NorCal anglers in the tourny are the following:

1) Don Mormon
2) Rob Belloni
3) Matt Allen
4) Chris VanCleave (sorry if mispelled)
5) Steve Pagliughi
6) Don Osbourne
7) Will ??, dang it I forgot Will's last name :-(

Word has it that the second of the three will be held at Clear Lake.

The last is Will Bevard. That looks like a good group to me, I hope one (or all) of us makes Norcal proud!

The upside is that from the sound of it there will be more events. So if some of the big names in trophy bass didn't come to this one, they will have more opportunities in the future.

In thinking about it more, I'm sure some guys just don't feel compelled to fish with an observer in the boat (and potentially with a camera rolling). I can understand that. Not everyone is all about winning money in fishing.

I also think that if I lived across the street from a great trophy lake like Casitas and knew it inside and out, I'd be reluctant to really get after it in some 10k tournament in front of someone. For 100k if I was on them, yea... I'd be tempted to do whatever it took. But for 10k, maybe not so much.

Going to Casitas is easy for me because I don't really know the lake very well, and in January I'm not going to do anything fancy trying to catch fish. In the end, I'll probably rig 5 rods and just go fish.

My money is on Rod Thigpin to win.

Good luck guys that lake has been real tough lately, It takes a while just to find fish and they are deep. Water clarity is about 3 ft and wont be getting better any time soon. There dont seem to be a lot of fish relating to structure as usual. Sometimes they are just in deep water suspended so find em and mark a waypoint to stay in that area.
Good luck
Rich

I'm really looking forward to this event, should be very interesting with this weather.

Hopefully everything goes smoothly at the gate!

Anyone else crazy enough to be camping out there?

BEHIND THE COLD FRONT...A VERY COLD AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS WILL CONTINUE TO BRING THE RISK OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY...POSSIBLY INTO SATURDAY. IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY RAINFALL INTENSITIES...THUNDERSTORMS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE SMALL HAIL AND GUSTY WINDS. AS THE AIR MASS CONTINUES TO DESTABILIZE...CONDITIONS WILL ALSO BECOME MORE FAVORABLE FOR WATERSPOUTS AND ISOLATED SMALL TORNADOS LATER TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY...WITH THIS POTENTIAL CONTINUING THROUGH AT LEAST FRIDAY.

What color lure should I use when tornadoes are present? Also, does the weather service have a spell checker? Nah, why bother...

Thunderstorms? Tornadoes?!?  x(

This should be real fun.

Watermelon with yellow flake is a proven Hurricane color but in Tornadoes, haven't a clue :+

I like a black/red flake for tornadoes. Matches the clouds nicely ;)

10162, ponding?
Posted by swimbait, Wed Jan-23-08 04:51 PM
The forecast today calls for ponding in urban and other areas.

I am trying to decide if ponding is a real word, and where these "other areas" might be located.

My highly trained weather sense tells me that right now it's raining outside, and that there are puddles on the ground. Beyond that, I find the weather.com special weather statements utterly hilarious :)
