Here is my report ..

Friday: I brought the boat and launched at Library Park. There was a huge algae bloom so my idea of finding sight fish didn't pan out. I went all the way up to Rodman to look around there but the water was about 2' vis or less. Checked stuff all the way back and only saw a few very small males in the slop. Pulled out and went to State Park. Drove the boat up to County Park and looked there. There were a few 2lb males on beds and a bunch of nice fish supsended on docks. I figured those suspended fish would be hard to catch but it was all I had going. By the time I got back to State Park the waves were too big to see any sight fish there.

Saturday: Launched at County Park and started oaring to the few sight fish that were around. Boat was on them already ... Went to the only one that didn't have a boat on it. The fish was really small and not even close to locked on. With nothing to fish for I drop shotted and caught about 10 dinks and one barely keeper in the morning. At 10am I figured that spot was shot since I had watched a dozen or more boats go through and no one had caught a fish. I think the guys who were on the sight fish first thing may have caught those two fish, but they were there for over 2 hours. Kinda blew my mind that they would spend that long on fish that couldn't have been more than 2 and a half pounds?

So I went down and launched at Red Bud and had some better luck there. Drop shotted another small keeper and then stuck a 4lber on a dock with a 5" Big Hammer swimbait. Next fish came on an Assalt jig flipping some tullies that were getting pounded by the waves. It was about 2lbs. Needed one more fish so I kept flipping way back in the tullies with the jig. Got a mush biter and stuck a nicer fish, 5lbs 10oz. Fish fought like crazy, I couldn't believe how hot it was. Weighed 13lbs 9oz.

Sunday: I knew I didn't have a pattern but I figured Red Bud was my best bet since I had actually gotten bit there and there wasn't a huge algae bloom. Started out throwing the 9" Slammer and right away got a nice bite. Problem was, I wasn't looking at the bait and the rod was kind of back behind me when it hit. I looked up and farmed it. Looked like a 4 to 6lb fish. After that I just junk fished my way through the docks and tullies, picking up two small keepers on LV500 rattle traps. Pretty tough fishing and not a sight fish to be seen. I think I needed another day of pre-fish to find the sight fish. I just checked all the wrong places on Friday. But that's tournament fishin :)
