IFISH say's,

Well, you missed killer camp fires both nights, ICE on your boats on the crispy, cold mornings, and water that was dropping 6" to 1' each night while having 8-10 Ft visibility in 50 degree water. Sound Fun ?? Did i mention Clear Skies too ? It was a fun time all together. Only 2 Keeper fish caught all weekend, but i'll let the guy's who caught um' tell there stories.

:o OUCH!!! 2 fish?!? Holy smokes that's beyond tough. Ice on the boats doesn't suprise me. I guess that's not as bad as the snow they were predicting. Or maybe it is. Brrrrrr.

WON Bass slayed 'em at Shasta.

Wow. That is tough tough tough. I think there has only been one tourney with fewer keepers, can't remember for sure but it was at one of those lakes down there. Even though people caught fish all day long Swampy got the only one that went outside the slot limit.

Sounds like you still had a good time though, a lot more fun than what I was doing (nursing a hangover at the hotel in the morning, fluing home the rest of the day).

I'm not going to say I told you so...

Too bad it wasn't better, but I fully expected to see the words "brutal" and "sucks" in the fishing report, because this is generally the way the bite is on Tulloch in the winter. Now Naci doesn't sound so bad after all... ;)

I fished a club tourney @ Naci on 1/25 and had almost 10# for 3rd place (28 guys fishing). I think there were 14 limits caught and every single person brought fish to the scales...

13170, Actually *3* fish, but...

I actually had a second keeper in hand (about 1.5 lbs., I'd say -- enough to have won the event, as it turns out!), in the net, with the culling clip on it, but it broke from my grip as I was trying to load it into my livewell. How many more times do I have to screw up on a money fish, before I finally win another one of these things (let's see: one win in *6 years* with the club??!!! Oh, well, give me another 5 years or so!). x(

Caught the first one (a 2.6-lb. smallie) at around 7:30 am, in 10, maybe 15 feet of water, off a still-shaded point, on a 'Cicada' vibrating blade bait. My second (unweighed) fish came on a Carolina-rigged hula grub at around 35 feet, at 11:30 or so, with the wind blowing onto the wall of this main-lake point. Sucker must've hit the lure about *20 times* before I finally hooked him (or maybe there were some crappie down there, too, nipping at the tail. Who knows?). Couldn't believe how many times it kept hitting my bait, though! I've never had that many repeat strikes, without being able to connect.

Alas, I'll take that 2nd-place finish! Don't know that I've ever been this high in the club standings before, so I'll take it & run! :D (Of course, since it looks like I'll be missing the B'yessa tourney, it sure ain't gonna last long!).

Otherwise, the weekend was gorgeous, in terms of the weather (albeit, a bit cold!). The RV worked out great, the wife (and dog!) had a good time. Sure enjoyed sleeping in on Sunday, too! Hopefully next time, the fishing'll be better for everyone involved.

Oh: and congrat's to Mitch on another victory, in (yet again!) tough BnT tourney conditions!

It was a tough day for sure. I threw most everything with absolutely no love all day. We were all kind of drifting around BSing when John came by and did his 'lost a fish thing' with a spinnerbait snagged on his fin. Well that got me motivated so I didn't hang around for the punch line (I thought he actually lost a fish, good one John). I started cranking some more and throwing blades now too. I came in to a shallow bay with 2 degree warmer water than anywhere else I had been so I started chucking the blade and got my only bite of the day. The fish came from a foot of water right next to an old dock.

Looking forward to Berryessa!

Mitch

Congratulations to you and Jeff on your hard won victory! Sounds like it was absolutely brutal!

Do all you guys out there know how many times Mteman has caught fished and placed because he stayed focussed and kept on fishing to the end? Three times that I know of...

Great job for getting in the money Jeff!
