15305, Wishing to fish the salt this Saturday
Posted by , Mon Jun-09-03 03:29 PM
I was kind of wishing to do some salty fishing this Saturday, in hope
of catching some salty fish for Sunday’s Fathers day BBQ.

You or anybody up for ~
Party boat Potluck / New Brighten Beach
/ Capitola (Halibuts) Monterey Bay Lingcod
Berkeley Flats / in my boat or tube it?
Renting a boat @ Santa Cruz for Lings/Rockcod/Salmon
$65.00 a day for a motor skif - Up to Four people in a skif

These are just suggestions
Just feel in the mood to fish the salt.

Put my name down. I can't go but put my name down, anyway. I start back to work on Friday (arrrgh). But this should be the only weekend I have to work and I would like to catch some halibut. So maybe another Saturday.

I used the 'Four-Eyed Skweeker' at Pardee yesterday afternoon/evening. From five until dark the only action I had was with that lure. Four or five follows (sometimes by two fish) and two misses, one right at the shoreline. I'll get one next time.

(Did you get banned from using the phone at work?)

Joe,
Has anyone told you that a tease like that is almost worse than a tease from a pretty redhead?

I HOPE NOT!
LMAO :D

Soon my friend, soon, I'll be there. Like Tom Petty once said, "The waiting is the hardest part" (I think I'm made of titanium) LOLWCMAO

I NEED TO GO FISHING!!!!

I'd go in a second but I am on call and need to be able to physically get to work very quickly on little notice. NOthing hardly ever goes wrong but when it does I need to be there. Please keep posting though; I've been wanting to get out at New Brighton for a while and would prefer to go out by myself the first time.

But I'm gonna go for it, anyway, 'specially since I have a little extra cash from our recent refinancing on the house (don't worry; that'll be short-lived, for sure!). :o

My wife had signed me up for salmon, but they changed their schedule. I could've gone on a pot luck (salmon/halibut) run on Sunday, for the original $70 or whatever, but I've decided to go for the albacore trip, instead, where I have to get up an hour earlier (for the approx. 2-hour ride out), & pay those extra bucks.

I guess they take a max of 12 anglers out on the albie trips; 20 for the closer runs. That explains the added costs (I guess!).

Looking forward to a memorable trip, though! I'll be sure & post some photos.

Have albacore shown off the Central Coast yet or is this a future trip?

Yes, the albacore have appeared west of Moss Landing. 'Harvey' at Tom's Sportfishing told me they landed 5 on Sunday, with another 9 being caught Monday. Both days were "beautiful" out there, apparently -- light to no winds, flat water, clear blue skies...

Unfortunately, my weekend plans kind of came crumbling down around me, so we won't be heading over the hill this weekend, after all; maybe later this summer. ;(

Damn, I was looking forward to that 4 a.m. start on Sat.! Hopefully, I'll be able to wet my lines *somewhere* out there this weekend; just not sure which day or where.

They reported on the moss landing website the longfins were 35 miles out from Monterey.
Man, I can't wait to fish for some Albacore this year. I gonna need a bigger freezer! :9 :7 :9
