Cool, thats a great idea Mike, but it looks like you have a good list going already. Thanks, lets sit back and watch it grow. Chris if you need a ride I'll pick you up. I would love to see you there fishing with us. Last years little tourney only had four of us, but it was still fun. Im going to make some phone call to some of the guys that don't come on the forum and see if they would like to be in the first annual Jan Mega Bucks Tourney at the lake that might just have a world record fish or two swimming in its waters. Wow, this really could be a mega $$$$ for the guy who catch's it and holds on to it to make it truely the worlds biggest BASS. Maybe...Maybe..I can see it now, " Belly Boater catch's world record bass" Oh yea baby.

Rich

P.S. Whos comeing to join the fun?

Chris M,

We love newcomers! Not sure if you know but the tourney they had last year was when a few of us were introduced to Russ and Dave (with Russ winning!). I was sick so was only able to take a few pics.

I think (correct me if I'm wrong Rich) you can pay when you get there.

Look forward to meeting you.

Yes Sir, pay at check-in. Once again the check-in time will be posted some time around the first part of Jan. I don't know if we'll be able to have the gate opened early for us and if we can't get it opened, then we'll be waiting at the gate for the park to open. This is a no rush tourney, its to have fun and win some Mega Bucks.

Go north 101 to Santa Rosa Fair Grounds off ramp and stay east bound for about 2 miles. When you come to Summerfeild road go forward to the next left turn which is Newanga. Go straight up Newanga and you'll come to the park gates. It cost $3.00 to enter. As soon as you enter turn to the right and follow the road to the one and only boat ramp. Presto, your there and so are some large fish.

Deren, I sure wish you could join us, how about I go with Dawn to Vegas and you go into the cold water for about 6 hours:+ Hit a big jack pot dude and bring home some $$$

I'll be posting the check in time soon. I still am not sure if we'll be able to open the gate eary or not. Worse case is that we all are waiting at the gate for it to open. If that is the case, then we'll all put in and start when I feel we're ready. This will not be a rushed show as we all will be starting at the same time and remember, we're there for the fun of it.

Maybe I'm a little crazy, but I'd like to join you guys. I work on a 'Flex' schedule...gives me every other Friday off. Happen to be off on the 16th.

It'll cost me an arm and a leg, gas, food, entry etc. but I'd like to fish this and meet some of you guys.

As far as directions, I typed in Newanga, Santa Rosa and this is what I got for directions, Newanga Ave, Santa Rosa, CA 95405. Does that sound right? This is going to be about a 6 1/2 hour drive for me! I'm about 200 miles east of SLO. Directions told me almost a 450 mile drive :o

If I do come up, am I going to need to respool with something heavier than 10lb? My drop shot rod has 6lb, swimbait rod has 20lb, all others have 10lb iron silk or 10lb P Line flouro.

I can sleep in the back of my Yukon so that's no big deal. Should I make reservations in advance? Sorry about all the questions and thanks for any help!!!
17748, RE: Spring Lake Mega Bucks Tourney
Posted by basserdave, Wed Dec-31-03 04:25 PM
Hi Jake. I'd bump up that dropshot rod to 10LBs and have at least one rod at 15lbs (not including your swimbait rod). I have caught lots of 5 to over 7 lb bass in January. The water is usually very stained to chocolate in mid Janruary so line shy fish are not a problem. Hope to see you there.

Hey Jake!

I'm in the same....boat! I live near Paso Robles and it would be a long haul for me to go, but I think it would be a blast. email me at mindangler@hotmail.com ...maybe we can share some expences....

Hey all,

I think it was bassoholic whosaid that he would sleep in the back of his yukon...Well if you want to fish spring lake tourney you dont have to sleep in your truck. I live about 15 minutes from spring and I am fishing the tourney with you. Anywayz I have a extra room with a bed. If you want to crash here. It will be warmer.

Ok so did you guys figure out if its going to be a teamed event? Also if is cool with everyone else why not add a couple hours of fishing say until like 3-4 oclock. This is supposed to be a fun event so why not make it last. Also should we maybe bring some food(like a cooler with stuff for ppl to munch on before and after the tourney?)

Would anyone be interested in prefishin spring lake I have a completly free schedule for the next 2 weeks. Let me know

Deacon

Deacon, the whole 'sleeping in the Yukon thing' was me. Thanks for the offer! I'll let you know in the next couple of days if that's o.k.

I would love to pre-fish. I've never been there. I'm going to leave my house Friday morning, the 16th. It's going to take me about 7 hrs, I think. I'll be pulling a little trailer behind the Yukon.

I think I'll be there tomorrow. Not early though. I'm gonna let the sun come up and thaw out the frost first. I'll fish from around 9 until ???
