Hey there, I'm absolutely new to this forum. In fact, I started reading the forum in order to get an idea of how to purchase a quality pontoon and the accessories needed. While searching the web, I found a pontoon carrier that would work great ( a bit pricey though .......$120). I included a link which has pictures, assembly info and ordering info. I hope this will help some of you guys out.

I have seen those, but haven't actually used one (haven't even used a pontoon...YET. Boat should be here in another week or two). There is a cheaper idea for anyone that can weld or knows someone who can. It consists of a sleeve (about 4-6" long) that a bicycle fork can fit in. All you would need is an old bicycle fork, the tire size of your choice, and a pin. Weld the sleeve to your frame (in center toward the back preferrably). Drill a hole through either side of the sleve and do the same on the top post of the forks. Slide it into the sleeve and stick the pin in. I'm not sure what the actual name of this type of pin is, but it has got a u-shaped clip on it that keeps the pin from sliding out. The only down side I can see is that you would need to remove it before you get in the water (unless you weren't worried about drag). If you really wanted to get detailed, you could rig the sleeve so that it releases to allow the tire to fold up out of the water.

There are a variety of solutions for this. I believe that in the forum archives there are a couple of old threads on the subject. Swampy and I both made wheels for our boats that we attached with bungee cords. They work great although my design is far superior. }(

Swampy took some pics of us fishing last weekend and I laid my wheels across the back of my boat after launching so they wouldn't get ripped off. Here (hopefully) is the pic. Construction was pretty simple: about two feet more PVC than the boat is wide, a steel rod about four inches longer than the boat is wide, two PVC "L" joints, and two wheels that fit the steel rod.

About your carrier getting ripped off. I have seen
several guys who sink em in 3 feet of water. Although
you still run the risk of them being stolen it is pretty
small being they are hidden in the water. Just a thought
if you dont feel like packing them around. I only mention
it beacuse I used to trip over them all the time ;)

Thanks for the suggestion! If we fish other areas/lakes we can usually find a place to stash them but this lake is some small and you can't use oars anyway so we figured what the heck and kicked them around the lake.

Woodsack: No ideas on how to add a second seat or casting platform either. You might find something in the archives though. Sorry.

I assume you meant crochs (me) when you replied about adding a seat. :+ I did a quick search here and didn't find much. A search on the internet for Cataraft gave me some good ideas. Outdoor engineering has one, but it's pretty costly. I'm sure I'll be able to rig something.

Superior my ... I have the real deal! :o I made my 1st set of wheels a few years ago to make it easier to get to the back ponds at shadow cliffs.(I was starting to feel my age):7 But then altered my design and made it more complicated. My bro buzzfish is right,the ones I use now althuogh they work,do have some problems.(They fall apart from time to time) :7 :7
