I've heard from a buddy about the silver buddy lure I just recently purchased one from Waltons pond and look it out to to the rock quarry in Fremont I was fishing about 2 feet of water when I got slammed but what felt like a nice size smallie. After a brief 30 second battle I lost him. After examining the hooks I noticed that the hooks were not really that great. I was wondering if anyone know how to changer the hooks out without a split ring. I know I’ve heard this lure mentioned here before if any of you have any tips on using this bait I would love to hear them.

them things don't work!lol I've been fishing them for a few years and have never changed the hooks, the only mod I do is bend the tail a little. This makes it vibrate more on the drop.I have done real good with them at the quarries and have had a few memerable days with them. They also are great for stripers on the delta(and the large mouth like them too).
I live in fremont and haven't been out there for a while. It's good to hear you're getting some fish on them.By the way, what set up are you using, that might account for losing it.I use a fenglass rod with 17#line(cajun red lightning) and a diawa(the only one I own)millionaire reel.
Maybe I'll see ya out there, swampy

I was using a shimono clarius rod medium action with a semetry-spinning reel spooled with 20 lb power pro. I've been doing allot of fishing at the quarry’s since I don't driver its kind of convent for me. I have seen at least 1 float tuber evryrtime I’ve fished the rainbow pond. I’ve refereed them all to this website I don’t know how many have actually went here but I at least put it on their minds. Hey Swampe if u ever decide to hit up the quarrys or any other spots around the area Let me know Id love to go as long as they have a bart station near Im all in.

It sounds like the Power Pro--either back off your drag or switch to mono. Or just be mindful that the line you're fishing doesn't stretch (and as a consequence, makes it easier pull the trebles out)....

The reason I use a semetry reel is because of the drag system due to the fact of the no strech. The reason for loosing that fish is due to a pathetic hook set. Ive allready came back to that lake and stuck 2 nice green guys fron the shore. Thanks for the tips fellas. I only use momo for leader material on my braid although I grew up on mono I cannot see myself suing it for anything but leader material mainly for dropshoting and reaction baits.
