First off I would like to give a big congrats to all of the qualifiers of this years TOC, below are the 2008 Tournament of Champions qualifiers. If it happens someone who qualifies can’t make the TOC we will be using the "on-deck anglers". These anglers are guaranteed a spot at the 2008 BNT TOC November 8-9 at Lake Berryessa where they will be fishing for a total purse of $600.00 with no entry fee. We will be based out of Steele Park Resort, for reservations call 800-522-2123, motel rooms are $75 and cottages are $95 per night plus tax.

If for some reason you are not able to make the TOC please let us know ASAP so we can let the alternate qualifier know.

TR TOC qualifiers are
Scott Rouhier
Robert Middleton
Paul Mibach
Nate Albers
Dave Ryle
Greg Calcagno (Alternate)

DR TOC qualifiers are
Taylor Capilla
Rob Linden
Jeff Wilson
Mitch Teman
Gil Mora
Jon Burgstrom (Alternate)

SR TOC qualifiers are.
Mark Zandbergen

Congrats everybody. Looks like a good field of anglers. And congrats to our 2008 AOY's

Huge kudos to Taylor Capilla as he is the first ever 2 region AOY winner in a single season during the modern era. Taylor fished well all year and took the Delta Region AND the Travelers Region AOY titles. Great job Taylor!

And a big congrats also to Mark Zandbergen for taking his first ever AOY crown in the Shasta Region. Way to stick with it during a tough season Mark!

I'll see you all at Berryessa in one month :7

Taylor - congratulations. I remember when I met you and Jon at the Old River tournament in 06. You guys were juiced on bass fishing. Looks like you have come a long way already. Hopefully you're using more than just speed traps and brush hogs by now ;) Good luck to all the TOC.

Congrats to Taylor on double AOY that is an awesome accomplishment.

But why is Taylor qualifying for TOC from the Delta Region and not the Travelers Region? After all he is the tournament director for the TR and he scored more points in the TR as well. Jon Burgstrom would be the final qualifier from the DR.

b Thats a good ?,being that I am the final qualifier from the tr and wouldn't make it if taylor goes from the tr I'ld need to know.I would not want to bump someone who really deserved to go from the tr.

I am not sure that the number of points one recieves is relevent here. First place is first place and we have always used weight as a tie breaker. Since Taylor tied with himself with a first place finish in the TR and Dr I used the weight as the deciding factor for which region he qualified through. Taylor had more weight in the DR hence that is the region he qualified in.

After I checked everything over I see Doug's point too and I think Jon should be able to fish the TOC as well. If I moved Taylor to a TR qualification I bump Swampy ;( if he stays as a DR qualifier then Jon is bumped ;( What to do?

Since this is the first time we have ever had a multiple region AOY this issue has never come up before and I am not sure how to handle it without disappointing somebody so here is what I am going to do.

In the interest of being fair to everyone involved Jon is now invited to the TOC as a qualifier from the DR and Swampy is in too!

How does that sound?

They said that it is walking distance to the water. They say it sleeps 4, but it is 2 double beds. If you still want to split the cost let me know. I will be checking in on that Friday.

Yo Swampy,

Paul and I are going to be splitting one of the hotel rooms, so we are set!

I am starting to look forward to this. Might be the last time the club has a meeting at Berryessa in a long time.

I hope it rains like a sumbeech too. We can end the season as it started! :P

Good call Mitch. That's fair to everybody. But did Taylor really "tie" himself? I would argue that points are more appropriate than weight when comparing regions. The Delta is going to kick out more weight in one day than a whole week at Naci in February! And while we're on the topic of weight, you didn't add the Clear Lake weights to the totals in the TR or DR. Thanks for all the work you do behind the scenes!

Doug

Hey FIT,

I thought BnT was going to boycott Berryessa 'cuz they hiked the permit fees so much?
40136, RE: BNT 2008 TOC Qualifiers
Posted by FIT, Wed Oct-15-08 07:01 PM
they lowered the permit fee way down because no one was fishing there, but since most of the resorts on the lake are now closed this might be the last time at berryessa for a long long time

Well I spoke to Swampy last night.....he has hurt his knee pretty bad and will not be joining us for the TOC. :( He asked me to post this for him as he currently has no computer access.

I didn't know he had no Internet or I would have posted it. Apparently he was unloading some aluminum plate and a piece fell against the side of his leg and his knee buckled sideways. I believe he is waiting to hear from the doc but he said he could not walk and they told him in no uncertain terms not to try, at least on the short term.

I'll post additional info as I get it.
