It's OK Clint, we can still be friends :) I posted that post on a couple sites in a shameless effort to change how people think about the mussel situation. I'd be curious to see how you guys on the b-n-t forum think about the topic.

Well I think it is easier for a kickboat to clear an inspection. That said I think that you make a lot of very valid points (I like the part about manmade reservoirs in particular). I think my stepmom used to call this "shoveling #### against the tide" or something like that.

As an aside: I apologize but I almost never go to the other forums on calfishing but this is going to change. I guess I just never thought about going up a level to see what else was there. Also there seems to be less and less value to the Western Bass forum. I do like some of the articles they publish, especially the ones from Couch.

When the inspections first started at Lopez and Margarita they would take a closer look at my Kickboat, now they barely look at. Oh, and if they do look at it, it is more out of curiosity of what kind of craft it is rather then if it is clean or not. For me the last dozen or more trips to Margarita have been with no inspection and a couple of those were when my dad was out visiting back in April and we drove his trailer (Utah plates)in there...no inspections at all.

Look at Naci, Just finishing up a multi million dollar water pipe line and they have NO inspections.....

It is very true that the most important lakes and waterways in the state are the ones where there are no inspections.

They guard Casitas and Cachuma like Fort Knox but anyone can launch at the Delta any time they like. I understand why the smaller water districts are the most paranoid, but from a big picture point of view it is totally illogical.

The Delta getting mussels is not a question of if, it's a question of when. When that happens it will be very interesting to see what the water districts around the bay do. Will Santa Clara County ban boats from their own county? Or will it just become the excuse to shut it all down?

At least the park rangers will be on the side of the fishermen for once if they try to shut down all of the lakes. It only takes a big metal gate to keep people out of the lakes, not a human being in a fancy new truck.

I like what you have to say Rob.

Personally I have been inspected only twice where they actually looked at my kickboat and both of those were by EBRPD once at the Quarry Ponds and once at Contra Loma.

The Clear Lake inspections are a joke but Lake County has figured a way to charge a launch fee finally. However, I think kickboats and float tubes are exempt from the inspections at Clear Lake.
Here is a post about the new protocol at CL on the SCBBBC forum that mentions it http://scbbbc.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3976581

Pinto lake is inspecting now too. http://www.pintolake.com/
Now that's a joke! As far as I know there is no inlet or outlet at Pinto and sure as hell nobody should be drinking out of there. A mussel infestation there might even clean up that pee green soup.
