46050, First time fishing Clear Lake, looking for advice.

I'm thinking of taking my first trip up to Clear Lake with my kickboat in the next couple weeks and I would like some advice on places to launch/camp/fish. Thanks.

Joe,
State park would be your best bet for camping. They have a boat ramp there which makes for an easy launch. Be prepared for shallow water fishing if you do fish there. If I were you I would go in to the first tackle store I saw when I got to the Lake to ask where the best fishing is.

Most guys in this club havnt fished CL since the Open in late April, thats why I think you havn't got much of a response.

Good Luck out there!

Thanks, Linden. I called a couple tackle shops in the area and they gave me some good advice. I'll probably stay at the state park.

I was out there last month. The lake is lower then preferred. As Rob mentioned State park is probably your best bet right now. If you want to camp and fish in the same area you can get em outside state park. I got a 6.5 on a jig up shallow early but the shallow bite didn't last long. You can fish the scattered weeds in 6-8ft once the sun comes up. Frog and flip the tules early and flip and crank late morning. Have fun
