47621, Max's report from Delta Open

Thanks to Jeff, Dan, sal and Wayne for putting on a great tourney!
Day one: hit the docks with a kut tail that worked wonders in practice...nothing on it to start sat. Row across to the other side of the slough, throw a bluegill rodstrainer spinner bait, get slammed for my first fish. Close to 3lbs. No more bites till about 5pm when I punch my 2nd fish on a beaver. Hour before 9pm, start fishing a dock In-between russo and piper. Switch color kuttails and caught a 2lber first cast. Then missed what looked like 5-6lb as it threw my worm, two pitches later catch a 4lber. Catch my fifth fish right in front of that Marina bar. 5 fish for 12.24?
Day two. Row right back to that same 'glory dock' throw a kuttail around and land my first fish. Prob 2.5. Row all the way down to the opening of the break wall and fish the other side and land a little keeper. Start working my way back, no action on the docks. 2 hours left I decided to run back to the glory dock. Catch a few rats, and think hmm only two feet deep these fish prob moved out. Start flipping the submerged weeds right outside the dock and land my third fish. Miss a few here and there. Row to the other side of Marina of that Marina bar. There's a good amount of submerged weed and start picking it apart. Catch my 4th, then catch another that went 12 7/8 inches. Painful. Starting to run out of weeds to flip and time, pitching into a clump get bit and set the hook and watched as I pulled the kuttail out of what looks like 2-3lb fish. My heart sunk. Said #### it, made a few casts then pitched under a boat that met up with the weeds. Line goes heavy, set the hook and hold on as this fish starts peeling line. I hold on praying it doesn't come undone, grab the net and bam 5lber that got me my limit and won the day for me.

Great job! Great report. Had a great time meeting new people and hanging out. Ok seeing the old timers, too.
