5870, Any chance of warm rain?

These last couple of weeks has been
tuff fishing the San Joaquin Delta for bass.

December/early January is the time of year when water temperature drops fast with unpredictable fish where a bouts. In less you are fishing for catfish.
Here in the delta a good rule of thumb for catching fish.
“Find the bait, work the fish”.

This time of season, “Believe it or not!”

Usually the heavier Large Mouth Bass, tag along with schools of Striped Bass, in search of food. Fish either are roaming
the shallows near deep water, or on long flats.
Or for a tuff bite, can be found suspending in between 20-30 feet of water, due to unstable weather. Off and on rain and changing weather fronts, create a tuff suspending bite. Not to say fish are not caught. Just a lot of work in covering water, and time needed to produce multiple fish catches.

Given a chance of three or more days of stable weather, catching fish improves.

Things to consider: Water clarity, air temp, and water temp.

This time of year, I preference a half once 4-5.1/2 inch shad swim baits.
I am able to cover water along with different depth variables.

Also to mention shad is a primary source of forage on these seasonal patterns.

Well just wanted to let you know I’m still alive and kicking.

Wish everyone a heavy catching’ New Year.

Feel free in dropping a message when, and where and in hope to be there.

PS. With all this in coming cold rain makes me want to hook into a Diamond Side Dinosaur or even a Rainbow Green Spotted Bass.
