Check out this San Pablo monster that was caught yesterday.

This one makes look like guppies :o

Damn! If I had internet access at HOME, I would've seen those shots on Sat. & been there myself yesterday (went to Pinto instead & got SKUNKED)! Arggghhhh!!! That 17'er might've been **MINE**!!! :7 Guess I know where my NEXT trip'll be!!!

Good goin' guys! Rob, you're incredible. I bet Mike must be foaming at the mouth to get back up there & catch a few of his own! Too bad you missed that other one; that would've been a hell of a stringer!

Any chance we're gonna see these in the next WON publication???

Mike is up there right now, and without me in front I'm sure he'll get them. I did send the pics to WON. I think you have to be a hot chick to make the cover though. Har.
6851, So, what about your 13er's tail?
Posted by jsmith, Tue Feb-19-02 11:38 AM
Looks pretty torn up! That looks like more damage than just fanning a nest is gonna do. Waddya think might've happened to this puppy? Think them big monster (planted) trout have been nipping her in the tail??? Or, maybe the sturgeon, or big cats they have out there? They don't have stripers there, do they (at least not in sustaining numbers; maybe illegally slipped in)?

Can't imagine what else might cause such a clipping.

I think that her tail was worn down on the bottom from years of spawning. I have seen fish during the spawn that basically have no bottom half of their fin. It grows back but maybe after years of that, they get perma beat up. I kinda doubt this fish was already spawning though. It's not impossible, it's just really unlikely with the water hovering in the high 40's at San Pablo. As far as the big V in the tail, I think that's a genetic thing with Floridas. I've seen quite a few like that. My 15 had a similar indent in her tail.

There aren't any stripers in San Pablo and I think if any trout smaller than 2lbs got near that fish, she would woof it and that trout wouldn't be nippin at her tail no more.
6853, Actually...

Actually, I was thinking of a trout more like the *17-lb'er* that my brother-in-law caught there last year! (Caught it on a broken-back Rebel, casted out from his boat out by Scow Canyon).

6854, Yours look bigger!

I guess that's a sign of a SEASONED PRO -- knowing to HOLD YOUR FISH CLOSER TO THE CAMERA!!! :7

i think the reason for the red mouth is because of teh fish eating crawfish, i remember reading it soemwhere, and talkign with a few people about it

Will Assault Jigs be at the Fred Hall show next month?
6859, RE: assalt jigs???

YES, there will be an Assalt booth with all of the jigs, plastics and leadheads, dropshot weights etc. There will also be an entire big hammer booth with swimbaits and fischo heads. The website is in the works, it will be a while still but Pete or I will put a post when it gets online.
