650, looking for good swimbait rod Posted by greenback22.5, Mon Aug-04-03 01:45 PM
Just got a calcutta 400 te, looking for a rod to match for
throwing the wood and calico fishing. Any one have a rogue or
other comparable cork handled rod. Live in Socal, out

Bass World West in Santa Ana has a rainshadow SW967 that I
built. Stop by and check it out, perfect for 9" baits,
asking $180. If you like the action of the rod but want
something done differently send me an email.

Hey brian,
I saw the pics of the rainshadows a couple of months ago, they
look nice. I'm looking at a couple of rogues this week and
will swing by BWW too, to check out your rainshadows. Do you
wrap 6' 4power worm/jig rods, imx or comparable blanks?
Looking for cork handles too.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I can wrap anything you want.
Pick the components and I'll whip it together for ya. The
rainshadow is done with hypalon for comfort on the big baits,
but I can do cork on the smaller rods if you like.

so you can wrap any rod? Could you do it if we sent you a rod
to wrap? what do you charge?

Yeah, that'd be no prob. Usually it's easier if you just tell
me what you want, that way I can order everything to be
shipped to me, but if you already have components there's no
problem in sending them to me. Price really varies according
to the rod, I try to hookup the calfishermen whenever
possible. Email me with what you have in mind and I'll be
happy to lay out a price for you.

Oh, that's what I meant, blank and guides. I can take care of
the rest. On second thought, that's not a bad idea.....
Customer is required to supply wrapping machine, wrapping
materials, electric bill, and carne asada burritos..... ;)

Bass World West also has the Rogue rods. Very Nice! Brian,
that rainshadow you built is nice too.

You live in San Dimas right? Head over to Kenny's Rod and Reel
in Upland. They've got a couple of Rouges for $120.

Sorry Kid, I live in Westminster. I've been to Kenny's once.
Great price on the Rouge's. I might have to make another
trip.

I'll vouch for the quality of Brian's rods. We had some
difficulties but he kept me informed about what was going on.
Awesome service. The rod is perfect for the 9 inch slammer,
it can throw the 12 inch but it is a little heavy. The second
trip out with the rod I had a 6.5lbr inhale a 9 inch Slammer
and the rod played it nice.
Also I have a Rogue Senior Swimbait rod 808, which is more
for the heavier baits, 12 inch SLammers and 9-12 inch Ospreys
and the like. But it can throw the 9 inch slammer well but
might be too stiff to allow a fish to inhale the bait like
Brian's rod will.
Anyways for the smaller baits Brian's rod seems perfect, if
you are going to be tossing a lot of larger baits the 808 is
good. I can't comment on the Rogue 806 or 807 rods but im
sure the 807 is probably going to be about the same action as
Brian's rod.
That was more than I intended to write...
