I am looking to recarpet my bass boat, and was wondering if anyone has done this themselves. I'm not sure if I should have some shop do it or do it myself. Anyone know how much it would cost for a 16 1/2 ft boat? BPS has a kit but I just don't know. Any advise would be great, thanks.

I just recarpeted my 18' Ranger with 20oz. basscat carpet and weldwood original contact cement. I paid about $150. for 20' of carpet and the contact cement runs about $15. I needed about 3 cans of cement because your using alot on both surfaces. Do it yourself if you can handle tedious work. Alot of time to take the old carpet off scrape off the old glue. Try to keep the deck and floor pieces in tack you'll need them for a template. Well worth the time and I'm sure you'll save a ton of cash doing it yourself....

Thanks for the response. Your boat has almost an identicle layout to mine, and seems to be about the same size floor space wise. You did a really nice job on yours, congrats. I hope mine turns out as good. I have done carpet jobs on small aluminum boats before using cheap home depot carpet and spray adhesive. Even though they turned out really good, thats not what I'm looking to do on my bass boat. Where did you buy your carpet and glue? I can get a replacement kit at BPS for about $150. Thanks

Mike

Go to BassCat.com and check out their carpet and I bought the glue at Blakes hardware here in Paso Robles. They had some at home depot but it wasn't the Daps Original. Make sure you use this one in the one gallon can......BassMan

I did my crestliner and it took me about 2 weeks, but I had to replace all the old wooden deck. Just the carpet and glue was about $250 for 20oz carpet. i got new seats too from the same place.

Sorry I misquoted the carpet I put in was BassCat 24oz. Awesome carpet at a reasonable price. Very tight on the lids but it is working in to be no problem......BassMan

Is 20oz carpet durable enough for a bass boat? I don't get to use it as much as some of you guys, about 1-2 times a month if I'm lucky.

20 oz. carpet is definitely durable enough. The carpet that originally came in boats like mine were 16 oz....BassMan
