On Super Spooks I'd trade out for #2 round bend gammie trebles. Some people like the EWG styles as well.

I'm a fan of black or shad pattern spooks. Never been a huge spook fisherman in general but used to have a lot of fun with the black spook at Santa Margarita in the evenings back in the day.

The Vixen is a great topwater bait as well if you are looking to complement your super spook. Spotted bass eat up the Vixen.

Many times they miss b/c they're just slapping at it. They'll come up and turn RIGHT before grabbing it. It looks like the bait goes under but that's just b/c of the commotion they make. Frustrating!

Sometimes they'll actually just bump the bait also. This happens more with frogs. I've even had a day when I didn't get a single hook up but they would hit my frog up to 3 feet in the air. It was crazy.
