I heard alot of talk about these a little while ago. Just wondering when they will be available, the price, and anybody's take on the rods. I heard they were in the $80 price range, which makes that rod possible for me.

We are having trouble getting the guides from Fuji. I don't deal with Fuji so I can't give you a date as to when we will get the guides but I'm hoping to have the rods here in my warehouse by the end of March.

Thanks. So what can you tell me about the rods? Trying to decide if I should wait for them to come out or go ahead and get another stick for the big baits. Price range, availability etc..

Thanks.

There are two versions; one heavy action, the other extra heavy. I have been using the XH version because I throw the 9 & 10 inch Stocker Trout 99% of the time. Those baits weigh about 6 ounces so the XH is more suited for my applications. If you throw a lot of smaller baits, go with the H. They are IM8 blanks with Fuji reel seats, and Fuji New Concept guides with Alconite inserts (guides you typically see on rods that cost $200+). As I said for availability, I'm hoping that we will have stock in California by the end of March. I'll post when they become available. My suggested retail price for the rod is $89.99.

I would like one because I too, throw a lot of 9 inch stocker trouts. If you could reserve one for me, I will send money when they are available. I live in florida though, so let me know how I can get one XH, I would appreciatte it.

Hi,
Thanks for the news on the okuma rods. I too am looking for a rod for swimbaits. What is a good rod for $100-150 range? I will be throwing 7 to 12" swimbait. Thanks for your info everyone.

Never mind thanks, I've found some great video review about rods in this forum. I probably get the heartland rod for now. Thanks for a comprehensive review on rods.

If you can wait, the Okuma is one SWEET rod. I checked them out at the Fred Hall show today and was very impressed, the blown away by the price.
