Yes. I have 5 rods, 3 centurion and 2 co-matrix, but have only used 3 of them so far. I have been trolling and casting large rapalas/small swimbaits/spinners with a centurion mh 7-6" and mh 7' since september, and so far they have worked great for a 23lb salmon, some macs, browns and one large rainbow. Hoping this weekend they will get into a fight with a large brown.

In a lot of ways, Ken thought "outside the box" in designing his rods. From the materials used, to the power ratings/taper designs, to the handle shape/material used/length of handle, these rods were designed by a fishermen for fishermen. His warranty is one of the best and his customer service is second to no one. If you call Airrus, you talk to the owner, Ken, and he will help you choose the best rod for your purpose at a price that doesn't break the bank, and then BS/talk fishing with you. How many other companies will do that?

I have been very happy so far and will buy rods from him (if I need more) in the future.

You can also check out the tackle tour web site for reviews and comments about the rods.

I had a chance to compare the centurion ($70) to a st croix avid ($160) last fall. Eventhough they are different materials and at different price points, this is what i found. The st croix was lighter and just a tad bit more sensitive (sciii vs im6) but i liked the grip and handle better on the airrus and you can balance them out if needed, unlike the st croix. A better comparison would be the airrus spectra or ultra to the avid since they are about the same price.

From what i have read, experienced, and discussed with ken (I talked to him about this a few months ago), if your rod is perfectly balanced with the reel matched with it, the weight of the rod does not really make a difference. In heavy surf rods, i would say yes but in these rods, you are talking probably less than an ounce difference.

So from the rods I have vs what i have tried, the Airrus rods are a tad bit heavier but once balanced, feel equal to or even lighter than other rods that might be overall lighter but not balanced.

Hope this helps.

Byron

There are a bunch of Airrus owners posting on tackletour.com's "Tackle" forum (do a search and plenty of results come will up). I think TT has done some Airrus rod reviews in the past as well...
