First I need to say, smallie beaver - where have you been all my life? Until a week ago I'd never caught a bass on any lure whose name ended in beaver. The sad byproduct of being a swimbait addict is the regular inability to identify good plastic. 12 lures for $4.50 and they don't tear up easily. Tough to beat.

Moreau frog from TW. What is this ridiculous-ness? A $61 hardbait frog for open water. That could actually work, we just won't know for a few months since Nor-cal is socked in with freezing fog... and its January.

eBay, if you click on one thing click on this Baitsmith X series trout. It's different. Interesting, custom style and different.

Bidding war alert on the Armageddon. Dudes are bidding up past the $400 mark - crazy. Makes me wish I had my prototype 10" Armageddon still. The one with the soft tail and the plastic fins. It landed on the bank, cracked in half and died on the inside corner of Alder point at Chabot on a cold winter day. Now it's probably worth more than the Bucks Bag Top Gun I was fishing in. Not to mention the leaky waders.

The Slammer 3 piece flat side on eBay isn't going for $400 but it's still a unique piece that will probably never be made again. Something to be said for that. I own the 2nd Slammer ever made with the "trout tail". It's a 12 inch bait. Mike had me give him a 9" Castaic Softbait to use as the tail on that lure back circa 1999. That lure has the teeth marks to prove it works and landed several 12 to 14lb stripers for me this year. 12 year old bait and still killing it.

Best lure name in a long time, the doppelganger. Look that one up. Tip, google for define:doppelganger. Too funny. My 90 year old grandpa taught me what that word meant a few years back. Sorry to nerd out.

Enjoy the deals :)

Rob - I'm not sure if I should thank you or curse you for scouting out the weekly deals. If nothing else, thanks for taking the time to find a few new things to look at each week.

3:16 Ebay prices have been eye popping lately and it sure is tempting to sell off the older baits.

Heh. I feel you. Sometimes I see a good deal on eBay and think shoot, I need to bid on that myself :) The old 9" Castaic Softbait Trout get to me!!! I used to have this killer one that got bit so well and one day the head cracked in half. Made me so sad. I've been looking for a replacement ever since. Argh! lol.

Do you think guys are bidding up the 3:16 hardbaits as collector's items or to fish with? Mickey has such a variety of this high dollar hardbaits and people don't talk much so it's hard for me to get a read on which ones are the real fish catchers. You guys know me, I don't collect anything, I buy it to fish it :)

I just had to snap up the 3-piece 10-1/2 inch flat side Slammer. Thanks! (I think) :)

Based on the BST sections of various sites, it looks like a number of folks are trying to buy complete "sets" of the FreeStyle baits (all colors and versions). Sure makes me think there are a lot of folks collecting the baits. On the other hand a guy claimed he is fishing the 6 inch Real Deal he bought on eBay for $564.

I'm with you on buying baits to fish. However, based on recent eBay sale prices I'm thinking I can make a mortgage payment with a few baits.

Here are a few of my favorite recent eBay & BST sales:

- 8 inch Real Deal (floater) - $257

- OG Armageddon - $545

- BA Armageddon - $280

- OG Bass Wake Bait (Japanese version) - $150

And they say the economy is still slumping! :)
