#12214, "Goals for the new Year 2014"

Last year I aimed for a 30lb bag on Clear Lake and a 10lber on video. We made 29lbs in the ABA, but didn't quite crack the 30lb mark. Twice we hooked the fish to do it but they escaped :)

Fishing with my older son Derek, we landed a 9lb 15.5oz bass on video (couldn't make it up if I tried). Don't need the video to remember the moment. We fished for 30 minutes that day and got the one bite, it was a cool deal.

So with no goals accomplished but still a fun year, here we are in 2014. My goals this year are to find a sweet spot to catch bluegill or crappie with the kids. Go bowfishing at night and actually hit a fish with an arrow. Catch a 6lb bass somewhere (hey it's Louisiana) And carve the time to go fishing with old friends and new ones.

Memory lane:

1 - Have the opportunity and time to go to a place where a 50 pound Striper swims

2 - Catch a 50 pound Striper

The years are going by faster and faster! its crazy. I encourage everyone whose been talking about doing something great for years to make it happen this year. Time is going by fast!

Last years goals:
A 10+ LMB in middle america
A 20lb+ Masheer
A gounch on rod and reel!

1 - ha. I fished middle america twice last year for a total of one gar and one bowfin, and some crappies.

2 I did get one 10+ mahseer and one about 9 on a triple trout which was awesome. Probly the first ever Mahseer caught on a swimbait. They dont get used in the Himalayas much :)

3. Tried for a few hours, but they are elisive. Maybe this year.

2014:

22+ limit of smallmouth
Goonch in the HImalayas on rod and reel
Publish the descriptions of the new fish species I discovered in Bhutan!

I'm boycotting posting my goals on Calfishing as I have basically had the same goal of a 10+ every year with no result. So nope, I wont even make it a goal, you hear that fishing gods I'm NOT trying to catch a double digit bass this year. Nope, not trying.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

Last year I went 1 for 4, but got my DD which was such a cool thing to happen. Going to build on it this year:

- Break the 10lb mark again.

- Qualify for the Rayovac National Championship on Wheeler (43rd at Havasu gave a decent start)

- Become better with my electronics
