The Okuma's can handle prety mutch any swimbaits. The heartland is a decent rod but it cant handle any of the 9in baits. It also has a hard time with the heavier 7 and 8in baits.

Matt pretty much summed it up...

Both brand rods in either weights are good choices for swimbait rods. I have an Okuma GS 7'6 heavy rod, good little ;) stiff rod. I like throwing some smaller baits on it though, 7" baits, like Stocker Trouts,3D Generics or this is probably what I'll toss Matt-Lures Bluegill on.

I also have the 7'9 XH Heartland. Even though it's extra heavy I'd say it's a lighter action than the Okuma. Good smaller bait rod and I sometimes troll with it. Great all around rod for the price.

what are some weights that you could throw on the okuma, and could you throw slammers on them?

I think their heavy or ex-heavy can handle most big swimbaits in general, 7 or 9", not sure all the exact weights. I just prefer to throw smaller ones on mine. Slammers would not be be a problem.
