To my knowledge nobody knows for sure how long it lasts. I would keep it away from sunlight & ozone, tho.

Swimbait, Spectra is notorious for all the features you mention, particularly the poor knot strength. Spectra usually tests closer to it's label rating than monos. If you're used to 15# P-line or Izor then the 15# Spectra will break at significantly less pressure.

Personally, the only use I have for Spectra as a main line is rockfishing. For everything else it is there as backing.

I saw a Spectra backlash on a baitcaster once. It was ugly...
