I have three of these http://www.kistlerrods.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=He70MC&Category_Code=he-crank-bait-series-fishing-rods rods. They are 'perfect' for what you are asking about. I use them for all those types of baits. That 7' rod weighs about 4 ounces but has the 'backbone' to work Bass back to the boat or shore. These are amazing rods.
