Thanks guys, I ended up with the 6'6" medium compre rod. Those rods sure are a nice deal. About the reel issue, my problem at first was that I was trying to work the little spooks and sammies like I do with the big pupfish and the calcutta. I would reel halfway with the twitch and then halfway to reel up the slack making one whole revolution for the twitch. I found with the smaller stuff like the spooks its much easier to get it walkin and now I do like the reel speed. It just took a little getting used to. This morning at castaic I even stuck my first spook fish and had tons of follows. Hopefully in a couple of weeks those follows will be committers. Thanks again!
