#3115, "Bluegill bait for swimming?"

I want to get a bluegill bait for swimming.I have a couple of ?'s for some of you who throw them.
How deep can you fish these baits?I'm hoping to get to at least 20'
Would it be better to have a top hook or bottom hook? or both. I will be fishing around trees quite a bit.
Last I will be throwing it on a 7'6" rod with an Okuma 250 lx w/20lb Maxima. Is this to much Rod and line?
I don't believe the big bass here in az are going to hit this I'm thinking more along the lines of 4 to 6lber's.
Thank you for your help gentleman

Joe
