I dont think there is any way to avoid getting tangled up in the t motor everyonce in awhile, especially if fly fishing. I dont think anyone foot controlled motor is gonna be less likley to get your line than the next.

I have a minnkota maxum 74 and it works great! I would go minnkota over motor guide.
