Todd -

I'm glad you posted the comments about the musky lures. After looking through Rollie & Helen's Musky Shop catalog each year, I'm surprised that there haven't been more posts about the use of pike/musky lures for largemouth and stripers. Both the Musky Shop and Thorne Brothers websites are great places to look for new ideas.

The smaller Suzy Sucker could work as a catfish/bullhead imitator especially in off-colored water.

I've seen various posts about "pro-rigging" swimbaits. On some baits this appears to have been done to eliminate the chance that the bass can use the weight of the bait as leverage to throw the hooks. A totally different approach for a floating hardbait would be the breakaway mechanism used on the Roberts Mudpuppy (http://www.mudpuppylures.com/index2.html). The breakaway mechanism allows the fish to pull the hook harness free from the bait and then your retrieve the floating bait after landing the fish.

Here are some other ideas of pike/musky lures that could work for bass and stripers. I started with a bass lure and then identified similar pike/musky versions. Take a look at Rollie & Helen's or Thorne Brothers and you will see many other possibilities.

- Crazy Crawler >>> Hi-Fin Creeper, LeLure Creeper

- Spook >>> Bucher Dancin' Raider (looks like a cross between a Super Spook and a Spit'n Image), Big Fork Top Cat.

- Prop Bait >>> Bucher TopRaider, Crazy Crank Rumbler, LeLure Globe, Suick Cisco Kid Topper

- Buzzbait >>> TNT Triclops

- In-line Spinner >>> Pick a bucktail, any bucktail

- Jerk Bait >>> Bagley B-Flat, Cobb Crazy Shad, Odyssey Pig/Piglet

- Jigging Spoon/Tail-Spin >>> Bondy Bait, Salmo Giant Chubby Darter

Keep posting the new ideas as it is always nice to hear a different perspective.

Tim
