For really any of the treble hook big baits the 807 is the right rod. It is somewhat stiff, but also parabolic, allowing you to reel into the bass when it hits your bait. You want a rod with even-load for those treble hook baits so your rod puts pressure on the bass, so the hooks stick. If you fish a rod that is too fast in the tip, or too heavy to load up, you'll pull the bait away from the bass, at least with treble hooked baits. The 808 is a better rod for any single hook baits, where you can actually set the hook when bit.
