I like jigheads that allow the jig to stand up. I'm not sure if they still manufacture it but Picasso used to make a spider jig with a hydro silk skirt that gave off a large profile. Hydro silk is similar to round rubber but is much more durable.
If color patterns are an issue you can always buy skirt material and make your own.
