#870, "September 17, Camby's Reef"

After goleta this morning, me and Daniel took the boat to the harbor and charge camby's. It was uh, interesting having Daniel launch the boat... We stuck my dad's old 4 hp evinrude on it and loaded up on gas. The swell/chop was considerable (for us at least) and that maniac Jason on the Stardust threw a nice wake on us. Grrrrrr. We also saw the hornet, in the middle of the day, like 2 o clock, sitting off of camby's, then later moving out to rockfish water. What an excellent boat... We also noted that the smoke from the smoke stack could be seen from up to a mile away. Anyway, we stopped at the one mile first, nothin, but did note the harbor tour boat observing sea lions on the one mile buoy. Now that's getting your money's worth... We ran to camby's (that's when Jason about capsized us with his damn wake..., Chaz was staring at us, it was kinda funny). Daniel had a really nice fish take drag and come unbuttoned. Coulda been a wsb. He got bit a couple other times but none in the boat. I spent most of the time trying to hold us on the kelp since the wind/swell kept drifting us real quick. It was like boiler rocks, I felt like David Bacon. So we didn't catch anything at Camby's and we decided just to head in. Lots of jackass sailboats around. I love when they sail down the channel of the harbor and cut back and forth across everyone else.
