#11963, "My top secret frog for giant bass at the Snag Proof Ope..."

The snag proof Delta tourney is just a few days away so I stayed up late last night fine tuning my frog selection.

Being that I only own 9 snag proof frogs, this did not take long... But I did concoct one totally top secret frog. Which I will now divulge all of the details on here. With Facebook consuming everyone's online time, no one reads the true Internet anyway right?

It started with a blue KC Dragonfly colored Bobby's Perfect frog. I picked the blue frog because the one time, 2 years ago, when I threw this blue frog, nothing would bite it under any circumstances. The thought of dragonflies mating with frogs probably have made the bass uncomfortable.

I selected the Bobby's Perfect frog because Bobby is the man on the Delta and any frog with his name on it is the frog you should be using at the Delta. Of my 9 snagproof frogs, 5 are Bobby's. Bobby has taken a good chunk of money from me over the years :)

With paper towel in hand, I took a bottle of white nail polish and went to work. Nail polish was probably a terrible idea for painting frogs, but it was the first white paint I found in my box-o-paints. This bottle was labeled as "White On". Get it?

With sloppy strokes I painted the belly and sides solid white. Just a bright, solid white. Then I removed the blue strands from the legs. Leaving only chartreuse.

Nothing personal against the blue strands, but white and chartreuse is just such a good delta color combo. I mean... it works on an LV 500 chartreuse shad so it should work on a frog - right?

After 2 coats of nail polish I opened the kitchen window, staggered away from the fumes, and let it dry. An hour later I picked it up to take a look and left a nice thumbprint on the belly. Talk about custom.

I considered autographing it and selling it on eBay as version #1 of the top secret blue and white derelict dragonfly special. But in the end it was so pretty I had to keep it.

My theory on this color is that it's the perfect topwater version of an LV 500 in chartreuse shad combined with a chrome blue speed trap from the right angle. Seems logical. Can't wait to try it in the tournament. It's been a few years since I've caught a frog fish so I'm getting pumped.

Photos later.
