#2255, "Crimper Question"

I'm finally gonna invest in a crimper and steel wire for my swimbaits. Tired of messing with braid and thought this would be easier. Just wanted to know does it matter what type/brand of crimper I get. I was looking at the BPS saltwater catalog and they have one made by P-line for $20 and another one made by Penn for $50. Does anyone know the difference? Also what type of wire and sleeves should I be using? Thanks!

E-man,
I just got two huddlestons and fixed them up with the help from people here: nylon coated stainless steel wire leader by American Fishing Wire 65# test, Seven Strand AM9 sleeves and Owner Hyper Wire split rings #4 rated to 50#.

I use pretty much the same stuff that the guy before me said, as for the crimper itself...I have no clue what the difference between one crimper and another would be. I have one at home and it works fine, though I don't know what brand it is.

I'm pretty much using the same stuff mentioned. I got my crimpers at Wal-Mart. They are by Shimano. They look almost like a regular pair of dykes.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the helpful info. I wasn't sure if I should get the coated wire or not. I'm glad I don't have to fork $50 for a pair of pliers too. As always your help is always appreciated!
