I'm seriously considering investing in a boat that weighs 1900 pounds and need some advice on what pound thrust trolling motor would be best for it. Although 90% of my time on the water will be spent on lakes (no current) I sometimes frequent the Delta which has much current. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, James.

Are you running 12v,24v or 36v?I have an older champion 16' and recently switched trolling motors.I had a motorguide 48# 12 volt and went to a minkota 80# 24volt.What difference!I would say to get the biggest motor you can afford.you can never have too much thrust and if ya fish the delta alot like me then it realy comes in handy:-)
Try and give j luis a call.He hooked me up with mine and will give you excelent info.

Swampy, thanks for the info. I would definitely get the battery rated for the trolling motor. Do you think 80 pounds of thrust will be minimum or a starting point for a boat 1900 pounds? Also, how can I get a hold of J. Luis? Thanks.
