#1110, "The MS Slammer Snake Preview"

Mike had been telling me about a new bait he was working on, and he wouldn't even tell me about it so I knew it was something good :) I got the pics in today and it was a bit of a surprise! I haven't seen it in real life yet so please don't pepper me with questions, but Mike tells me it swims just like a snake on the surface. The rear section is made up of approximately 26 joints to give it a very snakey action.

Mike tells me there have been a lot of requests from guys in the East and South for a snake bait and this is what he came up with. Keep in mind, this is just a preview, the bait is not fully in production yet, but if you are interested, definitely send Mike an email via his contact page or give him a call.

Thanks for the head's-up Rob. There are plenty of snakes in and around the small waters I fish in here in middle GA. I just sent an email to Mike letting him know he'll have at least one Southern buyer:) .

Dan,
You know what's funny is that when I look at a snake lure it's kind of like ... ok I guess bass might eat a snake every so often. But Mike tells me he's had calls from guys in the South who have caught so many bass with snakes in their mouths that they have to be careful when they lip the bass so that they don't accidentally get bit by a snake!

Brian, the diamondback, yeah I told Mike he should put a rattlesnake tail on the lure, just for kicks :)

A rattle snake tail with a fat rattle would be killer at night. I have seen some toys that lure reminds me of.

The Musky guys will go nuts for that bait. I have seen some eel/snake type baits at the tackle shows in the midwest. They seem to be quite popular. Good luck with the baits Mike!

Some of our lakes in the San Joq. Valley have a good supply of the Giant Garter Snake, as many as I've run into right on the bank, I'm sure a fair share of them go for a swim. Rob and many of you guys have done well at one of these particular lakes I'm thinking off ...;)

Man, it really helps to have such constructive and useful feedback on the board http://westernbass.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif

You are probably wishing you had been smart enough to make the bait huh.

I would love to see a $2 toy snake hold up to a 4 pound bass! It should last all of one fish if you could even cast it...

I know this; these suck big-time:

And I think it's ironic that they include what is probably the worst fluro line in their kit:7 .
