#1223, "Bettencourt's new bluegill!"

Hey guys, just wanted to give you all a heads up on a new bait that will be coming out in a few weeks. Nathan and I were emailing back and forth not too long ago and this idea just sort of developed and Nathan went to work! As far as I know this is the only hardbait bluegill to have a BIG single hook on top! Again, its 3" hardbait, 5/0 Mustad hook, the same "realfish" finish, it will sit nose down in the bed, has a REMOVABLE lip for bedfishing but the lip can be added to swim it like his other bluegill!!! Nathan tells me that the bait should be ready for purchase in 3 weeks in time for the spawn and will probably run about $40.

Here is a link to a sneak peak photo of the unpainted bait! http://www.bettencourtbaits.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=122

Matt

I have a real good feeling about this bait. You'll be able too add a treble too the bottom eye screw if needed, and will have a weed guard on the top hook..Nathan

Ok, I dont get it. How can the bill be removed, yet stay in place during a retrieve and hard battle?

Also, how did you make this bait stay nose down and level?

Hey Urban,
The bill slot is cut extremely tight, then on the back of the lip I place a little rubber compound that keeps it from slipping....I'm not saying you couldn't lose a lip,but it wouldn't be easy.If someone prefers a permenant bill,I'll epoxy it in..no big deal
How do I get it too sit that way in the water...Head down, tail up..It's magic!!..LOL..It's just how I have it weighted and the materials I use.The current sinking Bluegills I have out set the same way..Nathan

Just drill a small hole through the lip and use a small screw to hold the bill in. You can remove it if you like or place it back in and lock it down with the screw.
