#1639, "Just like to introduce myself and my custom baits"

Hey gang, very nice site. I checked it out after I recieved an email from one of your regulars Matt Allen inquiring about my baits.

I am the owner and artist of muskysnax.com and I primarily make wooden musky glider jerkbaits and crankbaits in very realistic patterns. It turns out that many of these baits are also great for large bass, both fresh and saltwater species.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate to ask anyone interested to check out my baits here in this forum so forgive me if I'm outa line.
I'd love to hear some comments and ideas for new patterns that might be great for your big bass. I know Matt suggested that I do some trout patterns which I can certainly do upon request. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please email me at muskysna@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the board :) This forum is all about mfgr's and retailers getting a chance to talk about new product, product they have available, new colors, sales, etc so you are absolutely in the right place.

If you want to post some pics of your baits, just copy and paste the link to the image into your post, then hit preview to make sure it works before you post it. Looks like you have some cool stuff on your site.

Thanks alot Rob. I'm glad I'm not breaking any rules as that's not my intention.

Here's one of my Sucker replicas to give you an idea what level of detail I put into my wooden baits... http://muskysnax.com/Quickstart/ImageLib/DSC04377.JPG

And here are a few Walleye replicas that muskies go crazy for...

Very impressive. I'm going to try to make another Musky trip in the middle of October. I'll have to look up some of your baits. They should be all over the glide baits and jerk baits around then. I assume you make a cisco color right?

I do make a Cisco pattern, yes. What seperates my baits from many others is that they are also shaped like the fish not just a generic shape painted like a baitfish.

I'll be doing some Rainbow Trout for sure. I figure about 8" long would be perfect for bass?

Great looking baits and website!!!

Most of us would probably want to see a RAINBOW trout pattern.
Maybe even 8-12"

Keep us informed...
Thanks,
Wade

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.
I'll get to work on some Trout pattern gliders asap and post them to see what you think.

I nearly caught a big bass on a 14" long Cisco prototype when it was little more than a carved out and weighted piece of wood! Up in Canada where I live a "big" laregemouth bass is about 5 or 6 lbs. You guys have bass there that could probably swallow ours!!! lol

Of course, I do catch fish that could eat those too...

great detail on your baits and welcome to calfishing.com. Besides the trout bait a 6-8" hitch would be cool as well. Just finding a good pic of a hitch is hard to do

Those baits have incredible paint jobs. How do the paint jobs hold up to the toothy critters you guys go after? Also, what exactly is a glide bait (same as a spook?). How deep do those crank baits of yours dive?

I think many of us would be interested in 10" to 12" inch baits painted like a washed out rainbow.

Thanks for the kind words.
The baits are coated in multiple layers of Nu-Lustre 55 epoxy which is very durable. It is also used to protect bar tops etc.

A glide bait is an underwater walk the dog bait. I carefully balance each bait with internal lead weighting to achieve a slow horizontal sink rate. Many of the baits with the Shad or Bunker shaped bodies will actually swim side to side on a straight retrieve!

They are designed to be worked with quick light twitches to get the side to side darting action of a wounded baitfish.

The crankbaits come in deep diving and shallower running models in 8" and 12.5" sizes. The deep ones have two tow eyes and reach a max depth of around 30 feet on the deeper setting and about 10 on the shallower one.

I'd be happy to do up some Rainbow Trout patterned crankbaits if there is anyone interested. Just email me and we'll work something out. Thanks for the support. If these baits have enough interest, I may be willing to give discounts for multiple bait orders so get together with some friends if you want to place an order!

I'll try to post a couple of photos of the new Rainbow Trout pattern I just completed. It will look much better with the clear coat on it.
If you have any questions, fell free to ask.

This will be the pattern on the baits that some of you have ordered from me. The baits are in progress and your patience is appreciated. These take time to complete but I hope the results speak for themselves.

Hello again, I just wanted to share this little video clip I put together showing one of my Peanut Bunkers. This little 4.5" bait swims without a lip and casts like a bullet.

I have just shipped some of my baits to some of the guys who frequent the forums here so I am hoping you'll be seeing some feedback from them soon.

If it didn't take so much time and work to build and balance each bait, I'd be happy to "donate" a couple for reviewing. Unfortunately, I've already given my quota of freebies to some charities who will use the money they raised towards their local fisheries.

I completely understand the hesitation for folks to drop money on a bait they've not seen in person. I must be doing ok though because the repeat orders keep on coming!;)

Thanks again for allowing bait makers like myself to post here and get feedback. What comes around goes around and when I'm in a better position to help this site or your fisheries, you can be sure that I will find a way to do so.
